Script
Repair in five sentences
Short, specific, and easier than a long “talk.”
repairrelationshipsfamily
The 5 sentences
Say them slowly:
- 1) “I’m sorry for…” (specific behavior)
- 2) “I imagine that felt…” (empathy guess)
- 3) “What I needed was…” (need, not blame)
- 4) “Next time I will…” (a concrete change)
- 5) “Is there something you need from me now?” (repair request)
Avoid these traps
They cancel repair:
- “I’m sorry but…”
- History lists (bringing 10 old issues)
- Mind-reading accusations (“you always…”)
Make it a ritual
Use Mom&Dad Tracker prompts weekly so repair becomes normal, not rare.
